July 29-31 saw a plethora of designers at GDS exhibit the latest in footwear and shoe trends for Spring 2016.

German tradeshow, Global Destination for Shoes & Accessories (GDS) has forecast moccasins, espadrilles and gladiator sandals as key footwear makes for Spring 2016.

In Dusseldorf, over 900 brands presented their SS16 collections to 15,000 buyers, designers and footwear fanatics.

At the same time, some 223 exhibitors at Tag It! - the private labels show for footwear and accessories - showcased their latest shoe designs and material trends.

GDS reported new materials - leathers, synthetics and rubber - and various 3D technologies are set to hit the footwear industry this spring. From LED outsoles to Tinker Toy-inspired uppers, designers used purple and yellow to Spring-up their collections. Elsewhere, wearable silhouettes, like creeper-bottom loafers and block heels, gave the shoes a functionality, read the Vamp article.

As part of GDS, Trend Spots offered creative merchandising tips for retailers. Meanwhile, a series of fashion shows brought the trends to life.

Elsewhere, the second Out of the Box Festival for Shoes and Accessories took place. It featured a runway show of 14 Brazilian labels, which injected Central American designs and interesting use of materials into the European market.

The next editions of GDS and tag it! will be held from 10 to 12 February 2016 and in late July 2016.
