The Danish Fashion Institute (DAFI), established by the Danish fashion industry in 2005, is an organization that further develops and promotes Danish fashion. DAFI’s purpose is to globally strengthen the country’s fashion, share knowledge, and build networks within the industry. Currently, the network organization consists of 135 company members, varying from large and established companies to smaller, newer brands. DAFI provides professionals within the industry with business and recognition through various networking events.

Between January 13-15 2016, DAFI took part in the Northmodern Fair, Scandinavia’s new innovative design and lifestyle trade show. Located at Bella Center in Copenhagen, Northmodern combines culture with design brands, buyers, retail, press, and technology in order to create a different experience for the businesses in the related industries. This year’s focus was sustainability.

In an effort to raise awareness about sustainability, Northmodern had a section of the show dedicated solely to sustainable textiles. In support of the Fair and its efforts on the matter, Le Souk partnered with DAFI to help showcase and promote sustainable textiles for the trade show and its visitors. Conscious fabrics from leading suppliers around the world were on display, including fashion, accessories, and interiors textiles.

Le Souk also has a fabric library in DAFI’s showroom in Denmark, which is available to view by appointment throughout the year. DAFI, along with the Northmodern Fair, hope to continue raising awareness about sustainability in the textile industry and make eco-conscious fabrics the norm.
