Led by women and boasting zero-waste, this California brand addresses all aspects of its business operations, including the full lifecycle of its garments.

Amour Vert was founded in California in 2010, and has set the bar high for the rest of the sustainable fashion industry. As a long-standing partner of TENCEL™, Amour Vert takes care in monitoring all aspects of its manufacturing processes.

It has fully investigated how its fibers are processed, the production methods used, how its workers are treated and how their clothes finally arrive to the consumer. At the product’s end of life, Amour Vert also looks into whether the garments can be recycled. Praised by Vogue Magazine, Amour Vert is a prime example of how the industry can combine fashion with ethics.

Its name, which translates to “Green Love” represents its drive to preserve the environment. Partnering with American Forests®, the brand plants a tree in North America for every t-shirt purchased and has planted 353,990 trees since 2010.

Making clothes in limited quantities, the brand’s principles are deeply rooted in minimizing textile waste. Amour Vert keeps timeless clothing in circulation and out of landfill by having launched ReAmour, which enables consumers to browse, buy, and sell high-quality pre-owned styles.

How ReAmour Works

ReAmour keeps AV clothing out of landfills and enables consumers to sell their preowned garments. To use Amour Vert’s resale marketplace, consumers just need to create an account on their website, and then search their purchase history to find a garment that they’ve bought elsewhere. After listing the time, they then have to write a brief description of the garment. After uploading the images of it, Amour Vert does the rest, and ships the item within three days.

Signature Fabrics

The brand chooses to work directly with its sourcing mills in order to manufacture its own signature fabrics. Amour Vert has curated its own signature modal, which is sustainably harvested from beechwood fibers, and its Mulberry silk and organic cotton are both free of pesticides, herbicides, and other harmful toxins.

Its Merino wool is made at a sustainable plant and comes from ethically-treated animals. Amour Vert uses organic GOTS-certified cotton and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100-certified silk. Partnering with TENCEL™, Amour Vert’s now includes branded specialty viscose fibers in its collections. Its cottonseed cupro is made from repurposed plant fiber, which is totally plant-based and biodegradable.

The TENCEL™ company has stated that it’s proud to work with Amour Vert and other like-minded sustainable brands, that are dedicated to promoting transparent practices throughout their supply chains, from design to sourcing, and production.
