Launching in 2010, the New York International Bridal Week now takes place twice a year from Pier 94. Nicknamed the ‘Bridal Market’, the city's latest edition offered the latest lace and silk on wedding dresses from the world’s top bridal couturiers. Le Souk takes a matrimonial peep at what will be trending down the aisle this Spring 2016.

Floral Appliquè Spring saw designers add textural depth to bridal gowns. What’s the most evident symbol for the season that leads into summer? Florals. And they were plentiful in the form of appliquè. Taking on the garden were Vera Wang and Carolina Herera who planted blooms on trains and the skirting of gowns without a care. At Marchesa, however, the florals where more specified and large, flourishing from the bodice before falling like dew drops onto the tulle layers below. Boho Chic Just like the Bohemian chic AW15 ready-to-wear shows, bridal looks to make peace and love with the Seventies woman in 2016. Rather Coachella-inspired, luxury cream gowns walked spaciously and freely at Jenny Packham and Houghton. Meanwhile, crocheted, lacy gowns designed for “every type of bride” restricted the body to the floor for Peter Copping’s anticipated debut for Oscar de la Renta. Lace bibbing crawled up the neck at Lela Rose and Elizabeth Fillmore, while cloud-light layers wafted by at Delvine Manivet. But it was the flare pants under chiffon blouse that truly reawakened the disco decade at Angel Sanchez. Hollywood Starlets Old Hollywood glamor took center stage. Showering gowns glittered in Art Deco accents at Amsale Bridal, while silk clung to the hips at Kenneth Pool highlighting a more curvaceous bride. At Kelly Faetanini, the designer played with feathers reminiscent of a party-girls boa, while Temperley offered strappy beading, which under cut the crisp white silk with in an inverted V-shape encrusted under the chest.  Naeem Khan was the most eccentric of them all, with layered tulle basing out a body-tight chevron interpretation.  Silky Tailoring Not just for bridegrooms, the tailored suits came slouched at the Theia Bridal show before going Charlie’s Angels at Pamella Roland with elongated pant legs and a plunging neck-line blazer, which felt ultra sleek in ice wool. Naeem Khan’s sartorial play was the most structured with razor-sharp shoulder and slim-fit pants to rival Savile Row. The femininity came in the embroidered trouser and classic veil.
