The future of workwear is here, and it’s all about integrating the rules of fashion into protective work clothing. Textile and design students from ESMOD Paris combined their expertise and brought a new perspective to workwear with designs inspired by a variety of CORDURA® fabric technologies.
Talented students from international fashion design school ESMOD Paris had an opportunity to reimagine the future of work clothing by taking part in a collaboration wit CORDURA®;brand and developing a complete style portfolio of workwear designs for men and women that are both ultramodern and durable.
Using inspiration from a range of CORDURA®;fabrics, young designers began with traditional work clothing concepts to further integrate modern world fashion styling concepts CORDURA®
Constructed using high tenacity fiber technologies, CORDURA®;fabrics are exceptionally durable and resistant to abrasions, tears and scuffs. They’re available in a wide range of weights – from ultra-lightweight to heavy weight – and come in many different constructions and textures.
The students participating in the collaboration were able to utilize different themes: natural environment, sporting activities, industry and even the “space age”; and styles: an integration of athleisure crossing sport, fashion and workwear. What’s more, they were able to create distinctive finishes, as they had learned advanced techniques such as printing, dyeing and embroidery on theCORDURA®;brand textiles.
Not only could students draw inspiration from the wide theme range, but also fromCORDURA®;brand's rich offering of fabric technologies:CORDURA®;NaturalleTM fabric with the look and feel of cotton, CORDURA®;HP Hi-Vis fabric for high visibility solutions,NYCO fabric combining cotton with nylon 6,6 for clothing that is ultra-comfortable and durable,CORDURA®;Denim fabric, offering abrasion resistant performance with a traditional denim style, and CORDURA®;Combat WoolTM fabric combining the warmth and comfort of wool with the durability of nylon.
The ultimate goal of the project was to encourage students to create versatile, avant-garde pieces showcasing style crossover between fashion, sport and work clothing. It was not the first time that CORDURA®;brand partnered with a design school, however it was the first time that it collaborated with ESMOD Paris.
"Innovation is an integral component of our brand ethos. This collaboration is an opportunity for the CORDURA®;brand team to share its know-how of performance fabrics, and raise awareness about technical textiles among young designers," said Cindy McNaull, global CORDURA®;brand and marketing director. "The brand strives to empower designers to create the desirable and wearable solutions of today, and tomorrow."
"We are delighted to facilitate this meeting between the young people who are designing tomorrow's fashions and the CORDURA®;brand, because this creates a new link between innovation and tradition, the key theme for ESMOD since 1841," said Christine Walter-Bonini, managing director of ESMOD.
