As cliché as it sounds, red was the dominant color to walk the red carpet at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe, held at the Beverley Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Other palettes earning their red carpet legs included yellow, silver, and of course, black, which monochromed its way amongst statement bronzes and lilacs. From a design perspective, big name couture labels and luxury maisons were well represented. Gucci, Chanel, and Valentino spoke loudly for the styles of Europe's old, while Michael Kors and Vera Wang stood their ground on behalf of contemporary design. So without further ado, here are Source4Style’s top five looks from this year’s Golden Globes.1. Naomi Watts – Gucci Despite the gloomy weather, Australia actress Naomi Wattes brought a little sunshine to the red carpet with a mono-colored yellow strapless gown. "There was only one choice - it was easy, there's no pressure this year," Naomi told reporters, when asked why she chose her Gucci gown - pairing it with a serpent Bulgari choker. “It doesn’t bite,” she pointed out to E! News correspondent, Ryan Seacrest. In cylinder shape, the canary gown fell slimly in an easy-going style, all the way to the floor. Delicate folds pleated across the chest in textural depths of silk; the simplicity upstaged by a belt with glistening diamante buckle. 2. Heidi Klum – Versace Representing ‘team red’, all eyes were on supermodel Heidi Klum, who this year opted for a figure-hugging, front-slit Versace Atelier gown. The clingy, bold scarlet dress fell fluidly to the ground in silk chiffon fabric with panels of shimmering red appliqué. Asymmetrical in silhouette, the Versace dress featured mermaid-look front pleating, accentuating the softness of the silk with an endless train. The dress was accompanied by custom Jimmy Choo shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.3. Emily Blunt – Michael Kors Emily Blunt, the Best Actress nominee for ‘Into the Woods’, continued her effortless and chic form this red carpet season wearing a custom-made Michael Kors historic gown. The monochrome crisp white gown was ground length in silk, with crisscross detailing across the bust reflective of Grecian royalty in crèpe pleats. Accompanying the dress were turquoise Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a Judith Leiber clutch. Her shoes were Nicholas Kirkwood.4. Rosamund Pike – Vera Wang Rosamund floated along the red carpet on Sunday in a custom made virginal white Vera Wang gown. The actress embraced modern bridal look played out with an ethereal feel in silk chiffon. The gown adopted an inverted triangle bodice and plunging neckline – based out with a gauzy taffeta bottom. Panels were also cut-out at the sides for a rather avant-garde aesthetic. Diamond stud earrings accompanied the geometric vision in white.5. Lupita Nyong'o - Giambattista Valli Couture With a lot to live up to from her baby blue gown in 2014, Lupita Nyong’o fell for the aroma of Giambattista Valli’s gardens and the richness of flowers at this year’s Golden Globes. In a light purple and off-white gown, which came from the Valli's Fall 2014 Couture collection, key features included embellished floral-like petals at the bodice. The flora descended and bloomed into a printed chiffon skirt and feathery tulle to the carpet floor. The actress accessorized the look with Chopard jewels.
- Jessic Chastain - Versace Donning a plunging V-neckline and dark bronze fabric, Jessica Chastain worked an Aterlier Versace halter gown original, glowing in metallic lamé. For jewels, she wore Piaget on the wrist so not distract from shimmering fabric.7. Allison Williams – Armani Privé Allison Williams continued the red gown trend with a Dorothy-inspired gown, reminiscent of ruby slippers. The dress adopted classic ballgown silhouettes, made extra decadent with hand-beaded details across the silk and gauze Armani Prive fabrics. Williams wore diamonds from Cartier.8. Keira Knightley - Chanel Lastly, one of the most talked about gowns of the night was the insect-inspired dress worn by Keira Knightley. According to the ‘Imitation Game’ actress, the Chanel gown took over 30 people to make; made the more intricate by the fact the dress had to accommodate her newly arrived baby bump. Modest compared to other red carpet gowns (and critiqued by some as luxurious night gown) the pregnant actress' custom dress donned illustrious butterfly and bug prints in mauve, orange and blue, constructed with a tiered silhouette that came in at the waist. The the dress fell to floor-length, with layers of white lace at the neck and hem, softening the dress at both ends. She was accompanied by a gargantuan butterfly 2-D wrist-piece, while her husband, James Righton stood with her on the left. Tell us: What was your favorite Golden Golden 2015 red carpet gown moment?
