Armedangels was founded in Germany in 2007. Since then, the company has set about the task of "cleaning up" the image of environmentally friendly clothing. The company focuses on a holistic approach that strives to combat modern-day slavery, toxic chemicals and cheap commodities

Over the years, the brand has become known primarily for its sustainable denim models. In addition, Armedangels offers a wide range of fashion for men and women. Its design features monochromatic styles with timeless patterns that counteract fast-moving trends while redefining the look of sustainable clothing.

With its motto "We're not here to create fashion," Armedangels takes a very different approach than other apparel manufacturers. Armedangels has made it a trademark to call out the circumstances of the fashion industry by name. With an unconventionally honest tone, the label has captured the attention of a growing group of consumers: conscious, informed people who want to help overcome the climate crisis through their choices.

The brand sources GOTS-certified organic cotton, and limits the amount of chemicals, water and wastewater used in production. It uses renewable energy in its supply chain and is also a member of the Fair Wear Foundation as it payment of a living wage in parts of its supply chain, as well as auditing its suppliers as well as the final stage of production. It also sources Responsible Wool Standard certified wool.

Circularity ID

In essence, a circular fashion system is one in which all garments produced can be reused, recycled or decomposed because they are biodegradable or compostable. This would reduce the enormous environmental damage inflicted by the fashion industry, ranging from the great pressure it puts on natural resources to the huge amounts of CO2 emitted to the gigantic mountains of discarded clothing that fill landfills.

However, we are still a long way from achieving a fully circular fashion industry. In fact, the most critical voices argue that the term "circular" has become just another buzzword, and tends to be used by any brand suspected of eco posture.

Armedangels’ mission is to enable a closed loop for textiles under real conditions. With its the Closed Loop Pilot and Circularity.ID® system, ArmedAngels enlists the help of ID and intelligent sorting workstations, and garment-sorters to identify material composition, value and the condition of garments. As a result, garments are allocated into accurate sorting fractions and can be put into the right cycle.

Armedangels initiated the project with circular.fashion and FairWertung along with other fashion brands to test a closed-loop system for textiles under real conditions. Under this project, different circular textile products are launched on the market with the circularity.ID®. This ID maskes for intelligent sorting, putting circular models into practice.
