Textile Exports Rise to $12.6bn
Exports of textile and clothing products in Pakistan witnessed an increase of 5.96 per cent in July-May 2014 from a year ago, mainly owing to a slight increase in export of value-added products.

Innovative Woven Shelter Made from Sun Absorbent Fabric
Canadian/Jordanian designer Abeer Seikaly came up with an innovative design for disaster relief housing which was inspired by temporary huts of nomadic desert tribes. The shelters Seikaly proposes would be woven into existence, a process based on ancient traditions of the desert peoples. These shelters would also be able to draw all the power needed from the sun.

Future of Textile Workers at Stake Due to Loadshedding
Acting Chairman APTMA Punjab Syed Ali Ahsan has said that the future of 15 million textile workers is at stake due to unprecedented electricity and gas load shedding for textile mills in Punjab. He said all the Discos are observing 10 hours a day electricity load shedding since June 29, jeopardising the running capacities one after another in Punjab.

Dow to Launch Program for Textile Mills Using 'SILVADUR'
Dow Microbial Control, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, will launch a Certified Mill Program on July 1, 2014, recognizing textile manufacturers who have successfully completed a training program and demonstrated their proficiency in applying SILVADUR Antimicrobial in their production processes.
