Outerwear and slouchie suits were key pieces on display at the very first New York Fashion Week: Men's. Sporty nylons and mesh walked with special fabric blends - both silk wools and silk cottons, crafting lightweight tailoring and functional casualwear this Spring/Summer 2016.

Rag&BoneRag&Bone - lead by David Neville and Marcus Wainright - were inspired by the sport, Parkour: free-running, jumping and gravity-defying climbing in large urban spaces. So, the Spring clothes were designed to fly, using light materials; from ultrafine nylon and perforated mesh to lightweight jerseys. Other key fabrics included wax-coated cotton, normal cotton, mesh and linen.Public SchoolBuilding a signature look for themselves, sharp tailoring mixed with athletic cues at Public School. Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne lined-up in a faux police line longline shirting, sport-ified bombers, comfortable man-shorts, while a voluminous short-sleeve hooded jacket sat over of windowpane shirt, with pleated white pants. Key fabrics included cotton poplin, regular cotton, jersey, satin and wool. And key prints included large checks and plaid.Duckie BrownDesign duo Steven Cox and Daniel Silver played around with menswear staples  - the jean and tee - for Spring at Duckie Brown. Voluminous t-shirts came in sheer fabrics and sporty-material windbreaker jackets, which the designers crafted in organza’s and silk Charmeuse. Roomy trousers retained shape with cinched waists held by satin ribbons creating impacting silhouettes. The key colours for the collection included salmon, lilac and acid yellow for an elegant-meets-powerful kind of dressing. Other fabrics used were wool, silk and cotton and thick, graphic stripes were the key prints.Todd SnyderClassic sun-dressing of the Amalfi Coast and Capri was the inspiration for Todd Snyder. This type of elegant relaxation was seen in floaty linen suits, chambray bombers, indigo terrycloth polos, tropical wools, and cable-knit cardigans. A collaboration with Cole Haan, forming easy-go brown leather sandals, completed Italian holiday look. Key fabrics included cotton, linen and leather, and major prints on show were hibiscus flowers.Richard ChaiRichard Chai looked to Nineties New York for Spring, referencing retro subcultures mixed in with loose tailoring and layering. Jocks and skaters were the main group accents, emphasized by graphic tees and tanks, which Chai paired with oversized striped or plaid suits. An essence of Peter Pan was woven in, seen in truncated and oddly belted pants; the never-grow-up mentality enhanced by teen sneakers. Key fabrics included open weave linen, technical nylon, cotton poplin, jersey, seersucker and wool; while main prints were window-pane plaids, stripes and indie album artwork.John VarvatosJohn Varvatos worked in stripes in everything; from skinny suits and duster coats to high-button boots. Streaked in white, dark green and deep purple, the stripes reference bohemian dandies Keith Richards and Jimmy Page - former rockers who had softened a little. Key fabrics included lambskin leather, silk-linen blends, and wool-silk suit fabrics. Key prints, besides the all-over stripes, include abstract animal motifs.
