Mango is propelling its sustainability journey to new heights by incorporating regenerative cotton into its 2024 product line. Teaming up with Materra, a British-Indian company specializing in innovative solutions for growing and sourcing regenerative cotton, Mango is set to redefine the fashion industry's impact on the environment and people.

This collaboration with Materra marks a significant milestone in its sustainability strategy, introducing cotton cultivated through sustainable agricultural practices for the first time with positive environmental impacts for both the region and biodiversity.

The initiative ensures complete traceability of Mango's cotton value chain, from seed to garment. Leveraging Materra's digital platform, Co:Farm, Indian farmers will collect vital soil and crop data, providing unparalleled transparency. This data will allow Mango to monitor key indicators such as fertility, soil health, nutrient levels, water usage, machinery, pesticides, and plot size.

Global Partnership for Sustainable Practices

Mango's commitment to a fairer society and reducing the fashion industry's environmental impact is underscored by its collaboration with Materra. The partnership accelerates Mango's goal of achieving 100% sustainable fibers by 2030, reinforcing the brand's dedication to environmental responsibility that has been integral to its DNA for over two decades.

Recognizing cotton as the most widely used natural fiber in the fashion industry, Mango highlights the positive impact of fibers from regenerative agriculture. This approach, grounded in principles like restoring biodiversity and raising farmer livelihoods, aligns with Mango's broader commitment to sustainability.

Based in London and Ahmedabad, Materra is pivotal in assisting farmers in implementing climate-resilient systems for growing cotton. The company's custom programs and mobile/web applications not only support farmers but also provide brands like Mango with truly traceable raw materials.

Mango's dedication to sustainable fibers extends beyond regenerative cotton. Initiatives like the circularity-focused denim collection and collaboration with Pyratex for a solidarity outfit made from seaweed, wood cellulose, and cotton showcase Mango's commitment to innovation and responsible practices.

Sustainable Vision 2030

These initiatives are integral to Mango's broader sustainability strategy, Sustainable Vision 2030, centered around key policies – Committed to the Product, Committed to the Planet, and People. Aligned with global sustainability frameworks, including the UN SDGs and the Fashion Pact, Mango's strategy focuses on creating long-term value and sustainable management.

"Mango's Sustainable Revolution" encapsulates the brand's commitment to reshaping the fashion industry. Through pioneering practices like incorporating regenerative cotton, Mango is not only advancing its own sustainability but also inspiring positive change across the fashion landscape.
