Our newest textile product partner presents advanced fabric technology and heavy-duty durability for high-performance products.

For over fifty years, Cordura® has pushed the performance demand of “fabric” with high-tech solutions that aim to ensure protection against tears, scuffs, and abrasions.

Welcome Cordura

Tough times call for tough fabrics, and as companies seek to make near-indestructible products that last and live up to expected qualities, CommonShare is pleased to announce that it now stocks Cordura brand textiles for all durable fabric needs.

CORDURA®  Fabric Technology includes everything from the super lightweight, stretchy and breathable, to the very tough and “battle-tested.” In technical terms, CORDURA®  fabrics range from 30 denier sil-nylons and pack cloths, to performance apparel fabrics and bomber ballistic nylons. The company currently supplies fabrics to manufacturers of sturdy and time-tested products, including Nike, Marmot (who used Cordura’s 4Ever™ Knit to respond to movement and resist abrasion), New Balance, Herschel Supply Co., Carhartt, and Granite Gear.

CommonShare offerings currently include Combat wool, 2-way stretch wool Cordura suiting, Cordura stretch, as well as the Cotton/Cordura blends that give a toughness without sacrificing soft feel. Suitable for urban environments to extreme conditions and the toughest kinds of work, Cordura fabrics are used in everything from workwear, active & outdoor, footwear, bags/luggage, Military & Tactical, to motorcycle outfitting.

Extreme Durability

Cordura can be credited for establishing our current expectations of durable backpack, sneaker, and outdoor sporting fabric—the thick, impenetrable canvases we trust to withstand life’s bruises, keeping our belongings safe and our limbs protected. Prior to its growth, fabrics designed to tough out almost any abrasion were few and far between, if not unheard of.

When the brand started in the ‘60s, Cordura embraced emerging mill technology advancements that would provide a new level of durability to the expectation of a fabric’s lifecycle. Enhanced abrasion resistance and tear strength meant the fabric was great for workwear and for the growth of the extreme outdoors market. Collaborations that ensued with Eastpak, Jansport, and Manhattan Portage would eventually lead to adoption by the military of Cordura’s 1000d textured nylon fabric, which replaced leather for lighter weight durable combat boots.

The fabric is regarded and proven to resist wear-and-tear as much as possible, withstanding persistent pull and use, all in an effort to provide the highest quality heavy-duty, industrial-strength, but still wearable fabrics across the globe. Cordura promises to go above and beyond when testing its fabrics to ensure that customers know that when they invest in this textile, it will deliver the best results of all competitors. “Our obsession with fabric is for your ascension,” says Cordura, hinting that by eliminating the worry of fabric abrasion, wearers of Cordura fabric can feel equipped to tackle whatever task or climb lies ahead, no matter the weather.

Sustainability

At CommonShare, we are committed to pursuing sustainability in textiles. Cordura understands that products that last are paramount to the effort towards sustainability in the apparel industry—that if products can be worn for years before wearing down and being thrown out, then fewer excess new products need to be made and fewer old products will end up in a landfill. For nearly twenty years, the company has been developing its CORDURA® Cares Program℠ which expresses the belief that “Sustainability Begins With Products That Last.™”

Cordura now also offers an ECOmade fabric, which is created from recycled plastic water bottles—recycled polyester yarn helps reduce energy consumption and extends the useful life of polyester. The fabric acts like traditional Cordura quality and its features include printed and solid options, a variety of woven constructions, tear-resistance, and waterproofing (through the use of coating and/or laminate technologies).
