Initially set to launch in November 2023, the system's introduction has now been pushed to Q3 2024.

The organization cited "complexities in the development and implementation" stemming from the pilot findings as the primary reason for the postponement. The eTrackit system is a pivotal component of Textile Exchange’s broader Traceability Roadmap, which aims to enhance transparency across the textile supply chain.

As part of this initiative, Textile Exchange plans to integrate two parallel systems: dTrackit and eTrackit. The latter is designed to deliver granular traceability for raw materials certified under the organization's stringent standards. By utilizing electronic transactions, eTrackit will enable robust accounting at the product level, employing peer-to-peer validation alongside third-party certification approvals.

Textile Exchange has indicated that the first commercial eTransactions are now scheduled for Q3 2024. In a recent statement, the organization emphasized its commitment to incorporating additional technology solutions into the eTrackit framework. The requirements and assessment criteria for potential technology providers are set to be finalized by Q3, with plans to pilot the system alongside a shortlist of suitable platforms.

In addition to the eTrackit developments, Textile Exchange recently expanded its Materials Impact Explorer tool, introducing new risk categories related to forest and air pollution, as well as an additional material category for manmade cellulosic fibers. This initiative reflects the organization's ongoing dedication to advancing sustainability within the textile industry while navigating the complexities of technological integration.
