Having mapped its entire supply chain, Harvest & Mill serves as an iconic example for the rest of the industry when it comes to transparency and organic cotton sourcing.

Since the apparel brand’s inception in 2012, Harvest & Mill was founded on the belief that there is a better way to make clothing that benefits both local communities and the planet we live on. Since 2012, the brand has set ambitious goals to rebuild regional supply chains in the United States using clean, ethical, and creative techniques.

Producing essential basics for men and women, Harvest & Mill has achieved a 100% traceable supply chain. Its garments are made using only 100& organic cotton, and all of its supply chain operations take place in its native country of the United States. Founded by gardener Natalie Patricia, her dream was to create a brand that had a 100% American supply chain, grown and sewn from farm to stitch.

The brand uses scientific data to keep track of its environmental impact, going above and beyond the majority of fashion brands in terms of reducing water consumption, energy use, and harmful chemicals. All of its clothing is vegan and cruelty-free and the entire product line is PETA-Approved.

Today, they are delighted to declare that their unique manufacturing approach significantly reduces environmental impact while fostering good change in communities. To continually develop sustainability, the brand goes above and beyond to measure and research social and ecological impact and evaluate its method.

Responsible Sourcing and Transparency Values

They deal directly with U.S. organic cotton farmers to source the highest quality organic cotton. These farmers are pioneers in regenerative farming approaches. Sewing is done within a 15-mile radius of their studio in Berkeley, California. They collaborate with small family-owned businesses in Oakland and San Francisco.

Most of Harvest & Mill's clothing is produced with organic, dye-free cotton. They use heirloom cotton, which grows naturally in brown, green, and red colors, and white cotton variants. Dye-free fabrics consume far less water, energy, and resources during manufacturing.

Harvest & Mill constantly strives to get more accurate findings, in order to measure its environmental and social impacts. Driven by data-based solutions, the brand has been able to achieve results such as 50% less water consumption that other brands, 70% less GHG emissions, and 100% carbon neutral clothing.

When creating its supply chain, Harvest & Mill’s main objectives were prioritizing shorter distances and minimized carbon emissions. The shorter the distance that the raw material has to travel, then the lower the level of damage to the environment. The brand has minimized its distances between its farms, mills, and factories so that they’re a fraction of the industry average.

In addition, Harvest & Mill apparel is also made from dye-free cotton, which uses significantly less water, energy, and resources during the manufacturing process. What’s more, these processes ensure that absolutely no dye chemicals are released into the local water supplies when consumers wash their clothes at home.
