How is Absolon made

Introduction The name "Absolon" is a combination of the words absolute and solution. Absolon is a polyester fill insulation brand, with the aim of providing eco-friendly solutions at competitive prices. Absolon's technology provides the experience of ultimate warmth through the use of DuPont Sorona and recycled polyester. How is Absolon made? Absolon is an equal blend of 50% recycled polyester and 50% Sorona. Sorona is a material developed by DuPont. Known for their work in chemical manufacturing, DuPont released their own brand of Triexta, a fiber combining the best qualities of nylon and polyester - and named it Sorona. It is partly made (37%) from a plant-based polymer - glucose is extracted from harvested crops. Then, the polymer base from the fiber is made when microorganisms are added to the glucose via fermentation. Unlike virgin polyester, recycled polyester uses PET as the raw material. This is the same material that is used in plastic water bottles. The collected PET bottles are sterilized, dried, and crushed into small chips. They are then heated and passed through a spinneret to form strings of yarn which is wound up in stools. This fiber is then passed through a crimping machine to create a wooly fluffy texture. Lastly, it is baled, dyed, and knitted into polyester fabric, then combined with the Sorona to make this material. The whole process requires much less energy than in the case of virgin polyester. In fact, it takes 33-53% less energy. Advantages of Absolon Environmentally Conscious Absolon is a mix of two recycled materials - polyester and Sorona. Sorona, as a type of nylon, uses 30-40% less energy and releases 63% fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Recycled polyester is also much more eco friendly than regular polyester. Warmth Holding warm between its 1.4D ~ 7D fine fibers, Absolon offers excellent warmth. It is water-resistant and maintains excellent thermal qualities even under diverse environments such as snow and rain. Non-Toxic All Absolon products are produced after being washed with clean equipment and non-toxic detergent that is safe to use for both people and the environment. Easy Wash Absolon has excellent breathability and resilience. In competitor’s products, after washing the insulation tends to clump up all on one side. This phenomenon hardly occurs with their product, and because of this, it dries faster. The material can be machine washed or dry cleaned, so it is possible to come up with various combinations of fabrics—from cotton to leather and silk. Easy Handling Absolon has high competitiveness compared to other insulation, and comparatively fewer problems of fur loss and odors despite its qualities as a down material. Durable Sorona has strength and resilience, whilst also having stretch qualities. Combined with polyester this makes for a highly durable product. Disadvantages of Absolon Whilst recycled polyester keeps plastic from reaching the ocean, it still does, as man-made fabrics do, release microscopic plastic fibers -- the infamous microplastics into our aquatic systems. It doesn’t matter if garments are from virgin or recycled polyester, they both contribute to microplastics pollution. Still, it is a huge step in the right direction. Where is Absolon made and Sourced from? CommonShare has partnered with DuPont Sorona, which has a strong network of suppliers around the world. Pan Pacific is part of this network of trusted fabric suppliers. As a listed company manufacturing apparel and materials amounting to over 800 million dollars a year, Pan-Pacific have established a global network in the U.S.A, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar.
