Solotex® Fabric : How it is Made

Introduction Solotex® is a new type of polyester fiber that can compete with natural fibers in terms of softness and stretch. It contains 37% plant-derived ingredients and combines excellently with other fabrics of synthetic as well as natural origin.  How is Solotex® Made? Solotex® is made from Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT), a type of polyester fiber. Its spring-like, helical molecular structure makes it easy to combine with other fibers, bringing out the characteristics of the other fibers while adding softness, elasticity, and bounce. Advantages of Solotex®? The biggest advantage of Solotex® is its soft, supple touch and feel. It feels as soft and smooth against the skin as cashmere. This, therefore, makes it a great fabric for use in underwear and loungewear. It is highly compatible with blending, with both synthetic and natural fibers, and blending does not affect its superb softness. At the same time, it maintains the beneficial qualities of the blended fibers. It is extremely colorfast and easy to dye, It can maintain its vivid colors after repeated washing, unlike regular polyester.  The fiber resists wrinkles and does not easily get baggy or stretched out from repeated bending at the knee or elbow. This ability to retain its shape whilst being stretchy means it has a variety of uses ranging from outerwear, activewear, pants, loungewear, knitted garments, workwear, and suits. There is also little shrinkage even after repeated machine washings and tumble drying, demonstrating superb dimensional stability.  Lastly, from an environmental point of view, plant-derived ingredients are used for 37% of the polymers that make up the fiber. Disadvantages of Solotex®? The main disadvantage is that whilst it is made from 37% plant-derived ingredients, the rest is fossil fuel-derived. However, it is a step in the right direction, and still a much more eco-friendly choice than regular polyester. It also requires low-temperature laundering and drying. Where is Solotex® Made and Sourced From? Solotex® is made in the industrial Bishu area of Japan. Our sources of Solotex® are Japanese suppliers Takisada Nagoya.
